Job Description

We are currently looking to fill a Construction Estimator position with an Oklahoma Company.

Ideal candidate will have a degree or a minimum of 5 years in the construction industry. Candidate preference will be given to those with Commercial and Civil construction experience.

Shift: Days
Hours: Varies depending on job
Starting Pay: $45,000 – $65,000 depending on experience 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Obtain all information needed to bid the project.
  • Perform detailed takeoffs of material and other resources to safely and efficiently complete the project.
  • Provide quantities and/or project details to vendors and subcontractors far enough in advance to receive quotes for bid.
  • Discuss scope of work with owners in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Put forward any value-engineering suggestions or alternate options to benefit W.C. Spratt and the client.
  • Review RFQ and discuss salient features of projects (prevailing wage, night work, delivery times or domestic material requirements) with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Compare pricing information from vendors and subs. Review their inclusion and exclusions and advise of errors, omissions or any misinterpretations.
  • Input takeoff quantities and prepare bid using B2W Estimate software and thoroughly check and re-check.
  • Complete bid in advance for review and submit bid documents on time.
  • Follow up with clients regarding to confirm receipt of proposal and discuss any questions.
  • Following project award, review the bid with field Project Management staff for efficient start and quality profitable project.
  • Update and maintain resources pertaining to estimating and bid preparation.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Previous site estimating experience for similar sized company.
  • Strong business practice experience.
  • Advance knowledge on heavy highway and underground construction safety and methods.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking capacity, detail oriented, strong computer skills, communication skills and negotiating skills.
  • Communicate needs to proper centralized sources.

Required Education Level:

  • A minimum of a 4-year degree in Construction Management or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in the construction industry in a management role in lieu of education/degree
