2nd Shift CNC Machinist Lead
Our client, a growing manufacturing company in the Catoosa area near the Hard Rock Casino, is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift CNC Machinist Lead to join their team. This is a hands-on lead position for an experienced machinist who can program and set up new parts, troubleshoot machining issues, and provide guidance to CNC operators on second shift.
Candidates must be available to train on day shift before transitioning to the regular second-shift schedule.
Job Description
The right person will be a strong machinist and hands-on leader who can be trusted to make sound decisions, keep production moving when issues arise, and train and support both current and new CNC operators.
Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 3:00 PM–2:00 AM
Pay: $27–$30 per hour DOE
Work Environment: Climate-controlled shop
Overtime: Opportunities available as needed
Responsibilities
• Program, set up, and operate CNC machines for new and existing parts
• Lead and support CNC operators during second-shift production
• Train and provide hands-on guidance to current and newly hired machine operators
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and production issues as they arise
• Make adjustments to machine controls and tooling to maintain required tolerances
• Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, job orders, and specifications to determine tooling, materials, and machining sequences
• Inspect finished and in-process parts using gauges, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments
• Set up and operate manual mills and lathes as needed
• Perform machining operations including turning, shaping, boring, threading, forming, and facing
• Identify problems and take appropriate action to keep production moving safely and efficiently
• Operate additional shop equipment and hand tools such as drill presses, band saws, punches, and grinders
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
Requirements / Qualifications
• Previous CNC machining experience required
• Strong CNC setup and programming experience, including the ability to set up new parts
• Previous experience training, mentoring, or leading CNC machinists or machine operators required
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to independently work through machining issues
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and machining specifications
• Strong knowledge of tooling, machining processes, speeds, feeds, and tolerances
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment including micrometers, gauges, and dial indicators
• Manual mill and lathe experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when issues arise
• Must be available to complete initial training on day shift
