Quality Tulsa jobs: Sending the unemployment rate southward. Explore opportunities and economic growth in our blog.

The market for professionals in the great state of Oklahoma may be in for some good times ahead. Tulsa World business writer Laurie Winslow reports:

“Oklahoma’s jobless rate dropped to 5.0 percent in February — the lowest since December 2008 when it was 4.8 percent.

Last month’s number was down from the 5.2 percent rate in January, according to data released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

As they often do, the household and establishment surveys that are used to compile job numbers point in different directions for February, said Lynn Gray, chief economist with the OESC.”

The figures are enough to make business operators in Tulsa, OK, feel more confident about their city. T-Town’s immediate proximity to the Arkansas River via the Port of Catoosa and the Tulsa International Airport opens more trading opportunities with the world; the fact that up to 60% of products from the city are eventually marked as exports is a bonus. If your business is in need of more people, a Tulsa jobs company such as Barracuda Staffing can help you meet your needs.

A study of the industry numbers for February may compel business operators to think about which industry garners demand for additional personnel. The OESC data noted a 2,400-strong increase in people joining the government while the finance sector welcomed 1,200 fresh employees. Another 800 people landed miscellaneous jobs while 100 new workers joined the education and health services industries.

On the other side of the coin, certain industries took moderate hits after gaining ground for most of 2013, a fact that could spur recruitment services to immediately scramble for fresh talent. Businesses in the leisure and hospitality industry were forced to shed 900 people after hiring an additional 7,800. Things were bad for the mining/logging industries as well as the information sector– there were 800 fewer information jobs while mining/logging’s gain of 3,500 people was offset by 1,900 separations.

In light of these figures, it’s clear that landing one of many competitive Tulsa, OK jobs will be a badge of honor for people who’ve spent a lot of time in the unemployment lines. Fortunately, capable recruitment services like Barracuda Staffing are there to aid that endeavor.
